The Book
The Book – How I met Brenda
While this is not THE book. It’s a similar book about the history of retailing that Brenda Cowles was searching for in January 1972.
At the time Brenda was a second year student at Becker Junior College in Worcester Massachusetts. She had already searched the Becker Library, but they didn’t have it.
Brenda found out that there was a copy available at the nearby Worcester Polytechnic Institute library Brenda a close friend LuAnn Neri now Soha took the long walk on a cold winter day to the WPI library only to find out that the library did not honor her Becker library card.
Determined to get the book she needed. She paused outside the library and her friend asked her what are we waiting for? Brenda said we’re gonna wait. We’re gonna stand here until we find some finding sucker to take this book out for me by SIG was a cap was a fraternity I had recently pledged and I was so proud that I already had bought a jacket with the great glitters on it .
On the same winter cold winter day I was heading to the library when I saw a beautiful blonde that I had admired from afar many times she and her friend were outside, but to my surprise, the strikingly, beautiful woman was making a beeline straight for me with the smile on her face!
She quickly explained to the situation to me, and I immediately agreed to borrow the book for when I went to the front desk, where the book was still sitting there, so I put down my WPI library card and asked to check it out. The student manning the desk lectured me and that I would be responsible for the book if it was not returned I would be responsible for replacing it. I grabbed the book and handed it to Brenda and she and I bet she and her friend LuAnn turned and left the WPI library laughing only later did I learn what the laughter was all about as the story goes Leanne as Brenda who was that guy and Brenda said I don’t know and I don’t care I got my book Was a big winner. I was the big winner because I was able to strike up a conversation each time our paths crossed reminding her to return the book finally on January 28, 1972. She agreed to go on a date with me and took. I took it a hotdog Annie’s where you could get six hotdog for a Dollar And like they say the rest of history as I write this in December 2020 we have been together for nearly 50 years and we have been blessed with two wonderful daughters, a great son-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren.
